Vale H, SC and WB Network

The Vale Health, Social Care and Well Being Network

"Seeking to Improve the Health and Well Being of our Local Communities"

The Health, Social Care and Well Being Network (formally Adults and Children's Network) provides an opportunity to bring together all voluntary organisations (local, regional and national) operating within the Vale of Glamorgan who have an interest in health and social care. It also encompasses areas of work associated with the Children's and Young People's Partnerships and the Older People's Forum. Sub Groups or additional meetings of the Network can be set up as and when required to discuss or respond to specific service issues.

Since 2003, the Network has gone from strength to strength, and now has a mailing list of 106 members. As a collective body, the Network provides statutory agencies with a ‘one-stop' shop for consulting with the voluntary sector on national, regional and local strategies and plans relating to the health and social care agenda. It also acts as a conduit for expressing views/issues of concern to the Welsh Assembly Government, Local Authority, Local Health Board, and other appropriate bodies.

As well as promoting awareness and understanding of health, social care and well being issues, developments and priorities, the Network provides an opportunity for members to network, disseminate information and share good practice. It also acts as the nominating body for voluntary sector representation on relevant partnerships, planning, and work groups, thus ensuring that the sector perspective and the views of service users and carers are included in discussion, planning and decision-making regarding services for local people. Such inclusion improves the communication between agencies, raises the profile of the voluntary sector and what it can offer, and also allows for potential funding and commissioning opportunities as well as access to training programmes.

The next meeting is on Tuesday 27th July (10 am).

Subsequent meeting:

Tuesday 12th October 2010.
