Training and Events


 

VCVS has a range of training and events during the course of the year. The training charges are minimal to cover the costs of running it and events are usually free.

 

 

VCVS' Training    

 

 

New training - Designing a newsletter or other promotional material

 

Cost:

VCVS Members £20 per delegate per half day session (3 hours)

Non members £50 per delegate per half day session (3 hours)

 

VCVS is offering computer based design training for members wishing to become familiar with putting together a newsletter or other promotional material using Microsoft Publisher 2003.  The training is initially being offered as a 1-2-1 session (or 1-2-2 if two people from the same organisation wish to undertake the training).  The training will be beneficial to organisations as it can and will be tailored to the needs of the individual(s) attending the course.  The date and time to be confirmed with interested parties.

The courses have been designed and developed by WCVA and CVCs for local voluntary groups throughout Wales (courses are supported by the Welsh Assembly Government under the Partnership Agreement). The cost of attending a course is only £20 or less and includes free course materials and refreshments.

 

VCVS has formed a training consortium with our colleagues in Voluntary Action Cardiff, Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil and Interlink (Rhondda, Cynon Taff) to enable groups to access training courses that each CVC is delivering. Should you wish to apply for a place on a course please contact the "lead" CVC that is delivering the course. Should you wish to attend a course that is not currently being offered by our CVC consortium please contact us.

Safeguarding Children & Young People (To be arranged)

 

This training will offer a brief introduction to allow you to identify and respond appropriately to concerns about children's safety and well being.  (All participants will receive and certificate for undertaking Child Protection Level 1 training on completion of the half day course).  The course objectives are:

 

-discuss what is child abuse and how to identify it

-identify child protection thresholds

-have an awareness of relevant legislation

-locate child protection procedures and be guided by them

-recognise the need to co-ordinated and consistent response to child abuse concerns

-recognise the importance of the role you play in the protection of children

-know how to make a referral to Social Services
