Kick Start 3

VCVS' Grant Scheme

Voluntary Organisations serving the Vale of Glamorgan are invited to apply for funding from the Vale Centre for Voluntary Service's Kick Start III funding scheme.

The scheme provides funding (up to £5,000) for capital items. Eligible items of expenditure could include:

-Purchase of computers and related software
-Purchase of office furniture and equipment
-Purchase of specialist equipment
-Minor repairs for community buildings

Priority will be given to organisations with an income of less than £75,000 p.a.

Clive Curtis, Partnership and Development Manager says "This grant scheme can make a tremendous difference to small organisations. This is a unique opportunity for local voluntary organisations to access funding. I would urge voluntary organisations serving the Vale of Glamorgan to take advantage of this opportunity. We are able to operate this popular funding scheme with the support of the Welsh Assembly Government's Community Facilities and Activities Programme."

He added, "We would particularly encourage new and emerging voluntary organisations to apply - this funding scheme can certainly give them the helping hand they need to get off the ground by helping them buy the equipment they need."

Kick Start III is open to any voluntary or community organisation serving the Vale of Glamorgan. Organisations based outside the Vale of Glamorgan are also eligible to apply as long as the funding for which they are applying benefits the Vale of Glamorgan. Application packs can be obtained from Vale Centre for Voluntary Services.  The deadline for the next round will be midday on Friday 15th October 2010.

Jane Hutt AM Congratulates Act4 Fun Director on Kick Start Grant

Christian Bullen Act4 Fun being presented with a Kick Start cheque

Vale of Glamorgan Assembly Member Jane Hutt, recently met Christian Bullen, Director of Act4Fun, a local children's theatre group, who was presented with a cheque for £5,000 by Clive Curtis, Partnership and Development Officer for Vale Centre for Voluntary Services, which will be used to buy sound equipment and microphones for Act4Fun, which has 80 members between the ages of 6 and 17.

Christian said 'We were in great need of a sound system for the club, as our very old system was causing us a lot of disruption in classes. With this funding we have been able to take our sessions to the next level, giving the students even more to feel proud of, and hopefully encouraging more young people to join us as we grow. It is very inspiring that organisations such as VCVS are here to help Act4Fun'.

"This is a fantastic organisation which shows young people how to have fun through theatre whilst still putting on professional performances, and I am so pleased that they will now be able to purchase the sound equipment needed.  I would recommend that anyone who may be interested in this fantastic children's community theatre, which aims to provide all children, regardless of their financial background with the opportunity to perform, consults Act4Fun's website" http://www.act4fun.co.uk/
