Added Value This is used to show how the value of an initial investment can be upped or enhanced by what the organisation does with that investment. For example, a Trust might give you £10,000 for a project. You then bring in volunteers and other expertise to run that project, thus adding to the original investment of £10,000.
Additionality Similar to added value but usually referring to added extra income. It means that money has to be spent: to allow something to happen that would not otherwise take place; on projects for which funding would not be available in the near future; to improve the quality of existing projects.
Advocacy This is when a person or an organisation helps someone have a say in what they want. There are several type of advocacy:
- Citizen Advocacy: Where an advocate works on a one to one basis providing support, help at meetings etc.
- Collective Advocacy: A group of people working together to have their say.
- Self-Advocacy: People learn new skills and confidence in order to speak up for themselves.
- Professional Advocacy: This advocate has specialist skills or knowledge to offer support with particular situations or decisions.
