VCVS aims to "Achieve and inspire excellence in voluntary action in the Vale of Glamorgan"

15th anniversary collageVCVS celebrates its 15th Anniversary

Those of us who have good memories may well remember that towards the end of the last century, way back in 1996, there was a public meeting called by INTERVOL, the County Voluntary Council covering the old South Glamorgan local authority area.  The meeting was called to discuss how the voluntary sector would respond to the reorganisation of local government when the old local authority of South Glamorgan would be dissolved and two new authorities would take its place, one covering Cardiff and one covering the Vale of Glamorgan. VCVS helps to improve the quality of life of individuals and communities by supporting voluntary groups. It develops and co-ordinates voluntary action and challenges discrimination. VCVS supports, develops and can help your group through:

 - Funding advice

 - Practical Services, e.g. printing, equipment loan

 - Information, e.g. one-to-one meetings, sign-posting, newsletters, membership directory, e-mailings, training events and conferences

 - Networks of voluntary organisations with similar interests

 - Joint working with statutory and other agencies

 - Support, e.g. charity registration, constitutions, developing constitutions

VCVS is committed to delivering a high quality service.  If you feel that that we have not met this standard please see our complaints procedure.

Like the idea of volunteering but aren't sure where to start? Need to know more to be sure that it's right for you? At Vale Volunteer Bureau we're friendly and approachable and we know everything there is to know about volunteering (possibly!). So go on and give us a call (01446 421782) or drop in (Monday to Friday, 10-4 at 34 Holton Road, Barry) or visit our website http://www.vvb.org.uk/
